Road Safety: Level Crossing Black Spot Project

The Level Crossing Black Spot Program commenced in 2008. On 24 July 2008 the State Government and Local Government announced a new jointly funded level crossing improvement program. The program is one of the initiatives recommended by the State Level Crossing Advisory Committee.

The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure is now calling for project nominations for the 2009-2010 Level Crossing Black Spot Program.

The program involves a 50:50 funding split between State and Local Government for level crossing improvements on local roads. The State Government has committed up to $500,000 per annum for this program for four years.

A panel of representatives from the Local Government Association and the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure will assess the nominations in March 2009.
