The Full Standard

The following types of hot water systems meet the Full Standard:

1. A Natural Gas or LPG hot water system (instantaneous, continuous flow or storage) that has:

• a 5-star energy rating or more; and
• A total tank volume of 700 L or less (if applicable).

2. An Electric Boosted Solar or Heat Pump hot water system, that:

• Is eligible for Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) as per in the table below; and
• Has a total tank volume of 700 L or less.

3. A Gas Boosted Solar hot water system that:

• Is eligible for any number of RECs; and
• Has a total tank volume of 700 L or less.

4. A Wood Combustion hot water system with:

• No additional heating mechanisms; and
• A total tank volume of 700 L or less (if applicable).

5. A Wood Combustion Boosted Solar hot water system with:

• No additional heating mechanisms; and
• A total tank volume of 700 L or less.

Other Water Heaters
The SA Water Direction specifies a Performance Verification Method that can be used to demonstrate compliance with the Full Standard for water heaters not listed above.
